Lok Satta Party supports Baba Ramdev''s fast

Hyderabad, June 3 (PTI) The Lok Satta Party President Jayaprakash Narayan today said that the Indian Government should emulate methods adopted by other countries, like the US, to unearth black money stashed in foreign banks by Indians. Narayan has also pledged his support to Yoga guru Baba Ramdev''s fast demanding black-money to be brought back in India. "Indians have kept about 463 billion, equivalent to about Rs 20 lakh crore, in offshore accounts," he alleged and said that the Government should not delay the process of bringing the black-money back to India as it has become a signatory of the UN Convention against corruption. "The Government could emulate methods adopted by countries like the US, which have succeeded in unearthing Americans'' undisclosed offshore bank accounts and made them pay punitive taxes," he said. Narayan said
that corruption could be curbed only if laws ensure swift punishment to the guilty with rigorous long-term imprisonment and confiscation of their entire property. Narayan, the lone MLA of his party, will be taking part in a programme in support of Baba Ramadev''s fast at Gymkhana Grounds in Secunderabad tomorrow, a Lok Satta release said.
