''Action against Ramdev was inevitable to maintain law&order"

Puducherry, Jun 5 (PTI): Minister of State for Planning V Narayanasamy today said the police action against Baba Ramdev was 'inevitable' as there was a need to maintain law and order and ensure security of the national capital and the people. "There was need to protect law and order and ensure security of the national capital and people at large. Police intervention was inevitable and action against the yoga guru and his supporters was absolutely necessary in the larger interest of law and order", he told reporters here. He charged Baba Ramdev with staging a 'drama' and indulging in mockery in the garb of a hunger strike
against graft and black money and said he had violated police permission for a yoga camp and converted the venue into a political platform. He said Baba Ramdev had no locus standi to criticise the Centre or UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and pointed out that nothing was done to eradicate corruption or prevent stashing of black money abroad in the seven year BJP rule. He said though the Centre was taking steps to bring in a Lok Pal Bill in the winter session of Parliament, "certain social activists and swamis and gurus in the garb of holding fasts are conducting themselves in a manner that will jeopardise the nation's sovereignity." He alleged that BJP through these activists and organisations was attempting to topple the UPA government. "Baba Ramdev who is steeped in corruption and BJP,an epitome of corruption are clamouring for steps for prevention of corruption and black money. This is unfortunate and the yoga guru and BJP are shedding crocodile tears. They have no right to speak on the subjects",he said.
